Demo boats are here!

Monday, July 10 - A representative from Zim Sailing (Warren, RI) delivered two boats for evaluation this morning.

The boats are being considered as an additional fleet instructional boat for CYC.

CYC, like many sailing programs, has found that while the Optimist Dinghy is a superb boat for some children, it's daunting for others.

Additionally, many kids would prefer to sail with their friends, rather than solo.

The goal is to find a boat that can be offered as an alternative to the Opti, and one in which new sailors too big for Optis can learn.

The CYC sailing coaches are currently evaluating the boats, and you can see them at Little Beach. The larger of the two is the Hartley 12; the slightly smaller (and sportier-looking) boat is the RS Quba.

Both are made in Great Britain. Made of roto-molded polyethylene, they offer remarkable durability and demand very low maintenance.
